    CET

Each month, our team will approve and publish one or more articles to the site. Members are then able to view, print and download these articles for study before taking a short multiple choice online test. For each test passed, a member will gain one CET point. Subject to accreditation by each individual member's national organisation, these points can be used towards maintaining registration or accreditation as a registered eye care professional. Each article will be available online indefinitely, and each associated test for 3 months after publishing.

    Discussions

The Discussion boards are a great place for eye care professionals to keep in contact. Discuss interesting cases seen in practice, share knowledge and experience, access support when you need it and simply keep in touch!

    Tele-Medicine

Our new Tele-Medicine feature allows members to ask our clinical support team for help with individual cases seen in practice which the practitioner may not have encountered before. Our team will investigate all cases submitted and provide an individual response. Cases and resolutions are then posted to the Discussion forum, to enable other professionals to comment and learn. NB: All correspondance in Tele-Medicine is kept anonymous.

    About OptoCET

OptoCET (previously known as TOAonline) was developed in 2008 in a collaboration between Tanzania Optometry Association and Aston University who continue to support the scheme as it evolves to provide global optometric online continuing education and training. The project is not-for-profit, and fits well with the University's commitment to social enterprise and community engagement.

Optician Magazine (UK) and the Community Eye Health Journal have also generously donated a large number of articles to the project which has allowed us to keep the system free of charge for all. The site also benefits from its affiliation with the African Council of Optometry (AFCO) who promote the site throughout Africa to ensure easy access to learning materials and CPD across the continent.
